G20 summit in 2017 was held in Hamburg from July 7th-8th, 2017. As the host, the Federal Republic of Germany emphasized the primary theme of “Shaping an interconnected world”. It is divided into 3 main objectives i.a. building resilience, improving sustainability, and assuming responsibility.

The President of Republic Indonesia, Joko Widodo, who was one of the speakers in the first session (leader’s Retreat), revealed key points about the achievement of Indonesia to overcome terrorism by implementing a program to reduce radicalism. In the second session, he expressed two points; firstly: sustainable development, climate change and resiliency of energy; secondly: growth and international trade.

During the G20 summit meeting in Hamburg, Mr. President also received some request from several partner countries, such as Australia, Spain, Netherland, USA, Vietnam, and Norway to attend bilateral meeting privately. Those meetings were expected to enhance the intensity of cooperation in sectors economy, social, and culture.

Besides meeting with other partner countries, the President of Republic Indonesia together with Foreign Minister, Finance Minister, Head of Investment Coordinating Board, Secretary of Cabinet, Ambassador Indonesia for Berlin, General Consulate Indonesia for Hamburg and General Consulate Indonesia for Frankfurt also attended business meetings with several CEOs of companies and business associations i.a. Siemens, BMW, Ferrostaal, L’oreal and EKONID. At the same time, the Head of Investment Coordinating Board witnessed the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Indonesian Railways Company (PT. KAI) and Siemens.

Before the President departed from Hamburg, the Honorary Consul of Republic Indonesia for Germany, Dr. Dieter Murmann; the Honorary Consul of Republic Indonesia in Kiel, Mr. Wolfgang Köhne; the Honorary Consul of Republic Indonesia in Bremen, Dr. Yorck Otto; and the Honorary Consul of Republic Indonesia in München gathered together to say their farewells. Furthermore, Mr. President also took pictures together with the entire committee from The Embassy of Indonesia in Berlin, General Consulate Indonesia for Hamburg, General Consulate Indonesia for Frankfurt and Indonesian Trade Promotion Center of Hamburg (ITPC Hamburg).
