Import Promotion Desk (IPD)
Import Promotion Desk (IPD) is an initiative for import promotion in Germany.
It fulfils a hinge function between small and medium-sized enterprises in selected emerging markets and developing countries on the one hand and European importers on the other.
The objective is to integrate the partner countries into global trade, thereby contributing towards sustainable economic development in these countries.

For exporters from the partner countries, IPD provides access to the EU market and supports them in establishing trade relations. For European importers, the IPD opens up new sources of supply in partner countries and supports them in the complex procurement process.

IPD operates within an international network consisting of export promotion organisations in the partner countries, German industry and partners of the development cooperation. In close collaboration with these partners, IPD links and supplements existing import and export promotion measures and develops them strategically.

IPD is currently active in 13 countries: Colombia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ecuador, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Nepal, Peru, Sri Lanka, Tunisia and Ukraine.

IPD focuses on specific sectors: fresh fruit and vegetables, natural ingredients for food, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, technical wood, cut flowers and sustainable tourism.

IPD is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The globally active development organisation sequa gGmbH is responsible for the development and implementation of IPD in close cooperation with the Federation of German Wholesale, Foreign Trade and Services (BGA).
